Golpo-Griho, she’s a new home with an old story to cherish. This family residence is located in Maijdee, Noakhali, with a 1680.57 square meter-built area. Built on a multi-generation household land, it accommodates daily rituals and large gatherings for the growing family.

The project retains and enhances the old residence, creating ghats for the pond & improving its edges while incorporating landscape into the design. Conceptually, it touches the memories of the site by retaining existing fabric and providing connectivity and programmatic placement for site activities.

The design uses traditional column-beam structure and exposed brickwork to indicate various usages, maintaining a simple & honest feel. Flooring materials, matt grey tiles and timber, unify spaces while guiding occupants to pause & enjoy surroundings. The landscape carefully balances manmade gardens and natural growth.

Special features include visual axes connecting the original ancestor’s neighborhood, an outdoor foyer over the original foundation, foliage-surrounded living spaces, and a family dining area that guides people to the outdoor dining deck. The design captures layers of the site’s history while blending tradition with contemporary functionality.
