Project Overview

“Taste of Dhaka – A Journey Through Tradition” transforms a restaurant interior into a cultural journey that reflects the soul of the city. The design introduces a calm, human-centered environment within a busy urban setting—warm, grounded, and deeply tied to local heritage.

The concept does not recreate the past but reinterprets the essence of Old Dhaka in a fresh and contemporary form. Traditional craftsmanship, local materials, and handcrafted details blend seamlessly with modern proportions and clean lines, making the space feel familiar yet renewed.

A carefully planned spatial layout balances openness with intimacy. Circulation flows naturally without disrupting the dining experience, while seating zones offer privacy without compromising visual openness. Every corner tells a subtle story, giving the restaurant a layered sense of place.

Ergonomics guided the choice of furniture and lighting—ensuring comfort, proper proportions, and warm illumination. Sustainability was a key consideration, incorporating natural ventilation, daylight use, and locally sourced materials such as bamboo, cane, and terracotta to minimize environmental impact.

The material palette celebrates Bangladeshi tradition: terracotta textures, bamboo panels, cane weaving, handcrafted motifs, and natural wood. Earth-toned finishes paired with warm lighting create a welcoming ambiance, while greenery enhances the calming atmosphere.

By blending heritage with modern design, “Taste of Dhaka” stands as more than a dining space—serving as a bridge between past and present, honoring tradition while staying contemporary and accessible.
